Hollow Pin Chains

(DIN 8165, DIN 8168)

Hollow pin chains (sometimes also called double-bushing chains) are used almost exclusively for double-strand conveyors.


In this application, the chain strands are connected using, for example, cross bars, hinge belts, or wire mesh belts.

In addition to the standard versions per DIN 8165 and DIN 8168, we also manufacture hollow pin chains to factory standard and coordinate the design with our customers.

Hollow pin chains based on DIN 8165 (solid pin) and to factory standard

Application: As a transport chain in double-strand conveyors (support bars, hinge belts, etc.) with vmax. up to approx. 2 m/s

As of: March 2022

Material:

  • Side plates made of high-quality steel with a minimum tensile strength of 600 N/mm²
  • Pins and bushings made of case-hardening steel per DIN EN 10084, case-hardened.
  • Roller material according to the customer's choice. Standard is free-cutting steel, case-hardened.

Also available:

  1. Stainless and acid-resistant version, material no. 1.4301 (roller made of 1.4305) and 1.4571
  2. Galvanized version
  3. With plastic rollers

When inquiring, please let us know the pitch p, the breaking load FB, and the desired design - non-marking roller, running roller, or flanged running roller.

The roller material and chain design are to be determined together with us.
For the calculation of a conveyor system, the weight per meter of the comparable version FV 63 to FV 250 (bushing conveyor chains) can be used.

Hollow pin chains per DIN 8168, ISO type MC
- Design with running roller per DIN 8169, Form B -

Application: As a transport chain in double-strand conveyors (support bars, hinge belts, etc.) with vmax up to approx. 2 m/s

As of: March 2022 

Material:

  • Side plates made of high-quality steel with a minimum tensile strength of 600 N/mm²
  • Pins and bushings made of case-hardening steel per DIN EN 10084, case-hardened.
  • Roller material according to the customer's choice. Standard is free-cutting steel, case-hardened.

When inquiring, please let us know the designation (e.g., MC 56), the pitch, and the desired design — non-marking roller, running roller, or flanged running roller. Please note that when using corrosion- and acid-resistant steels, the breaking load is only approx. 3/5 of the standard version.

  2. Stainless and acid-resistant version, material no. 1.4301 (roller made of 1.4305), 1.4541 and 1.4571
  3. heat-resistant version material no. 1.4828

The roller material and chain design are to be determined together with us. For the calculation of a conveyor system, the weight per meter of the comparable version M 28 to M224 (bushing conveyor chains) can be used.

Roller-carrying chains per DIN 8165, type FVT - carrying chains with extended side plates

Application: As a transport chain in twin-strand and multi-strand chain conveyors (vmax up to approx. 2 m/s).

  • Pins and bushings made of case-hardening steel per DIN EN 10084, case-hardened.
  • Standard is free-cutting steel, case-hardened.

Inner width available in either 10 or 11 mm

Note on breaking load:
Heat-treated alloy steels are used for the precision joint components as well as the high-strength side plates.
The service life of a chain is determined primarily by the permissible joint surface pressure and good lubrication, or the expert selection of suitable sliding partners (e.g., plastic bearings / hardened steel).
The permissible joint surface pressure must therefore be taken into account when calculating a chain.

The above hollow pin chains are also available in the following versions:

  • Galvanized surface – providing increased corrosion protection
  • With plastic rollers made of PA or Delrin – for quieter running
  • With plastic plain bearings – enabling dry running

Also available in corrosion- and acid-resistant versions:

  1. Material no. 1.4301 (rollers in 1.4305)
  2. Material no. 1.4541
  3. Material no. 1.4571

For all the chains listed above, the breaking load is then approx. 32,000 N.

  3. Galvanized surface – providing increased corrosion protection
  4. With plastic rollers made of PA or Delrin – for quieter running
